31st October 2010

October was a busy month for new releases, featuring the launch of Windows Phone 7 plus a number of other devices.

HTC

The HTC Gratia is the company's sole Android offering this month, a midrange smartphone with a very similar specification to the Legend. Most of HTC's announcements in October have been Windows Phone 7 handsets, with the HTC 7 Pro, HTC 7 Trophy, HTC 7 Mozart, HTC Surround and HTC HD7 being shipped to various carriers worldwide.

LG

LG is hoping that Windows Phone 7 will give it a boost in the smartphone sector where it has so far failed to impress, the LG Optimus 7 and LQ Optimus 7Q are certainly competitive if not very distinctive.

Other manufacturers

Nokia continued to go its own way with the inexpensive Nokia C5-03 Symbian touchsreen phone. HP-owned Palm bounced back (again) with the Palm Pre 2 and an upgraded operating system. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a minor upgrade to the previous model, again with an improved OS. Finally, the Dell Venue Pro is a high-end Windows Phone 7 device with a love-it-or-hate-it form factor.
