March 2010 Roundup

31st March 2010

March was one of the quietest months we can remember in the mobile phone industry, showing that big name manufacturers are really cutting down on their product ranges and are concentrating on a few key devices.

LG

LG demonstrated their first Windows Phone 7 handset to the press, giving a glimpse of Microsoft's highly anticipated new operating system. The dual-SIM LG GX200 pitches LG against Samsung's DUOS range of phones, and the expanding "Cookie" range is boosted by a low-end touchscreen phone called the LG GS290 Cookie Fresh.

Other Manufacturers

Quite a modest phone in technical terms, the Nokia C5 brings a new naming convention for this Finnish manufacturer, and a handset that certainly has mass-market appeal. At the top end of the spectrum is the powerful Android-powered Samsung I9000 Galaxy S. Finally, we saw the Dell Aero Android phone, heading for AT&T in the US.
