Dual-SIM phones such as the LG GX200 are still pretty rare, so a little more competition in the marketplace is always welcome. The GX200 competes directly against the Samsung C5212 DUOS both in terms of specifications and target markets.
Apart from the useful dual-SIM function, the GX200 is nothing special when it comes to features. There's a very basic 2" 176 x 220 pixel display, a 1.3 megapixel camera with LED flash (which can be used as a torch), microSD expandable memory, a multimedia player, FM radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The GX200 also features a WAP browser and some basic personal information management tools. Inside is a very large 1500 mAh battery, and LG
say that this can provide the GX200 with up to 13.5 hours talktime
and an astonishing 70 days standby time. It isn't clear if these
Dual-SIM cards give the LG GX200 two different telephone numbers at the same time, and quad-band GSM support on both radios should mean that any 2G SIM card should work. Users can chose which SIM "personality" to use for outbound calls from a menu, so overall this purpose-built dual-SIM arrangement is much easier to use than the tricky adapters that some aftermarket solutions use.
Price is a compelling factor with the LG GX200, in Russia it is slated to retail at 3990 Roubles (€99) and in India at just 8199 Rupees (€84), it isn't clear if these prices include tax though. Still, less than €100 for something that acts as two phones is pretty good, especially when you consider that the GX200 packs expandable memory and an FM radio too. There's no word on availability, and it is possible that some retailers have the GX200 in stock at the moment although we cannot confirm this. The target markets seem to be Eastern Europe and South Asia, however we would expect that specialist retailers in the rest of Europe will also carry it.
