The thirty-sixth "Walkman" branded phone from Sony Ericsson, the Sony Ericsson Yendo is the first Walkman phone with a touchscreen.. and probably about time too. [Update: actually it's the second touchscreen Walkman phone, but the first for a while]
The Yendo is fairly compact for a touchscreen phone at 94 x 52 x 16mm, and it weighs a diminutive 81 grams. The small size of the unit is partly down to the relatively small screen - it's just 2.6" in size and 320 x 240 pixels, making it one of the smallest touchscreens on the market. This is a GSM-only phone with no 3G or WiFi support, so Sony Ericsson's primary pitch here is really to sell the Yendo as a touch-enabled music player. The camera is pretty basic too, coming in at just 2 megapixels. As well as the Walkman music player, the Yendo comes with an FM radio and 3.5mm audio socket. MicroSD memory is supported up to 8GB, and the standard sales package includes a stereo wired headset and USB cable as well.
The Sony Ericsson Yendo comes in a very wide range of colours: black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, silver, white and yellow. Not all carriers will carry all colours though. Due to be released sometime during Q3 2010, we should imagine that the Yendo will be very inexpensive and will compete against the Samsung Corby line, our best guess is that the Yendo will cost less than €150 when it becomes available in retailers.
