Sony Ericsson W715
Discontinued 8th January 2009
The Sony Ericsson W715 is exclusive to Vodafone,
and can be thought of as either the upcoming W705
with added GPS support, or the new G705
with added Walkman functionality.
Representing the 30th Walkman branded handset from
Sony Ericsson, the W715 comes with all the usual multimedia
features that you would expect, plus Vodafone's Find&Go
navigation service. There's a 3.2 megapixel camera,
2.4" QVGA display, expandable memory and stereo
Bluetooth, all wrapped up in a fairly lightweight 98
gram slider package. Of course, there's a web browser,
email client and all the other features that a Sony
Ericsson phone in this class has.
Other
notable features are support for HSUPA (high speed uploads)
in addition to HSDPA and normal 3G. The W715 also comes
with WiFi support.
It's a promising looking device - but then so are
the W705 and G705 handsets, which are more-or-less identical.
It does show how muddled Sony Ericsson's range is when
there are three models in the range where common sense
might suggest just having the one.
Sony Ericsson say that the W715 should be available
during Q1 2009, although no pricing details are available
at present.
