The thirty-first "Walkman" phone in Sony Ericsson's range, the Sony Ericsson W395 is a basic GSM-only slider phone with a 2 megapixel camera, a 176 x 220 pixel display and Bluetooth.

Essentially, this is a slider version of the existing W302. There's a pretty comprehensive media player, FM radio and stereo Bluetooth. The W395 ships with a 1GB memory card in the box, which is enough for a modest amount of music.

Sony Ericsson bill this as their "most affordable Walkman slider phone to date", and while it's certainly true that other Walkman sliders are generally pretty high-end, there are actually other Walkman handsets (such as the W200 and W302) which are likely to be cheaper. Our best guess is that the W395 will retail SIM-free for about €110 (£90) when it comes out.

Sony Ericsson W395 back We've said it before, and we feel that we will say it again.. there are simply too many "Walkman" phones in Sony Ericsson's lineup, hardly any of which are anything other than "parts bin specials" like this one. We're sure that this is a pretty decent music player, and we must say that it is a good looking phone, but we honestly cannot see anything about the W395 which is at all truly distinctive.

Sony Ericsson say that the W395 should be available during Q1 2009 in grey and titanium colour schemes.
