Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Discontinued The Sony Ericsson Vivaz was announced just a few weeks ago, and now it has been followed up by the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro, almost the same thing but with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Although the slide-out keyboard is a major element, Sony Ericsson have managed to retain the good looks of the "original" handset, adding just 2mm in thickness and 20 grams in weight. But for some unfathomable reason, the camera on the Vivaz Pro has been downgraded to a 5 megapixel one from an 8 in the Vivaz. As far as we can tell, almost everything else is identical to the standard Vivaz including the rather lovely 3.2" 360 x 640 pixel touchscreen display, 3.5G and WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, microSD expandable memory (with 8GB included in the standard sales package) and a FM radio. The video camera is capable of capturing HD video, which is still quite rare at the moment. Software support includes the now-usual slew of social networking apps, and the whole thing is running on the Symbian operating system.
We must say that the keyboard looks very good, with a simple, conventional layout and wide spacing between the keys.. anyone who has struggled with tiny keyboards might appreciate this arrangement more.
This combination of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Symbian and a rich feature set, especially when it comes to video recording looks good. As a result, the Vivaz Pro could provide some significant competition to Nokia and take some share from their high end N-Series and E-Series phones. Sony Ericsson say that the Vivaz Pro should be available
during the second quarter of 2010 in White or Black colours, although
no guidance was given on price.
