Sony Ericsson V600i
Discontinued 9th June 2005
The Sony Ericsson V600i is basically
the Sony
Ericsson K600 handset modified a little for use
with the Vodafone Live! service. The primary differences
here are cosmetic - the handset looks a little different,
and the Vodafone Live! service is preinstalled, along
with a Vodafone-ised interface.
Like the K600, the Sony Ericsson V600i
is a competent but pretty straightforward 3G phone,
following in the footsteps of the well regarded V800i
and the less successful F500i
devices. It certainly seems that Sony Ericsson are happy
to modify handsets for Vodafone in this way, but although
the V600i is technically a Vodafone exclusive,
it doesn't have the true exclusivity of a phone such
as the Sharp
902.
We said before that the K600 was
primarily interesting because it was a true mass-market
3G phone, and the V600i is no different. In fact, this
slightly low-key approach to 3G handsets may well attact
customers who didn't know that they wanted a
3G handset - certainly the V600i has all the 3G features
you'd expect, but in most ways it's quite a normal device
that will probably be a natural evolutionary step for
many Vodafone customers.
Expected to be available from Q3 2005
in Vodafone markets, at roughly the same time as the
K600.
