Sony Ericsson S500 / S500i
Expected
Q2 2007 8th May 2007
Almost identical in terms of features to the upcoming
Sony Ericsson W580i,
the Sony Ericsson S500 / S500i is a quad-band slider
phone with longer battery life and a QVGA (240x320 pixel)
display.
The main differences between the S500i and W580i
are a different software configuration and the S500i
doesn't come with a memory stick in the box. Otherwise,
the S500i has an identical 2 megapixel camera, screen,
EDGE data support, Bluetooth, web browser, email client
and RSS reader. The Sony Ericsson S500 / S500i weighs
94 grams and has an impressive maximum talktime of 9
hours with up to 15 days standby time.
Sony Ericsson make much of the styling and themes
on the S500i - the themes can change with the time of
day or even the season, and the S500i has a number of
clever illumination effects. This emphasis on
design and attractiveness means that the S500i isn't
just a dull variant of the W580i, it's a very interesting
device in its own right.
The S500i should be available in "selected markets"
from Q2 2008 in two striking colours - "Spring
Yellow" and "Mysterious Green". There
is also an S500c variant for sale in China.
