Sony Ericsson C901 Preview
Discontinued
11th February 2009
In what appears to be an accidental
release of product information, Sony Ericsson have
let slip details of the new Sony Ericsson C901
Cyber-shot phone.
This 5 megapixel device appears to be
a straight replacement for the C902,
but with a larger and more conventional display. From
our measurements, this is a 2.2" panel rather than
the 2.0" panel in the old C902. Although we liked
the touch sensitive buttons on the old phone, the screen
was really far too small for a 5 megapixel device..
even the new 2.2" unit is smaller than we would
like.
The camera is a 5 megapixel unit with
a bright Xenon flash. The C901 allows geotagging of
photographs when used with the optional HGE-100 GPS
accessory.
This is a quad-band GSM support with
dual-band 900 MHz / 2100 MHz UMTS but no WiFi. It measures
105 x 45 x 13mm and weighs in at 107 grams.
There's no official word on the C901
that we can find, so we can't tell you when it will
be available. It isn't really much different from the
C902, so we guess that it will be available in the next
two months or so.
