Samsung Z130 (SGH-Z130)
Discontinued
The
SGH-Z130 has been rumoured
for a few weeks now, and Samsung have finally confirmed
it at the 3GSM World Congress.
There's no getting away from the Z130's showstopping
trick - the rotating 176x220 pixel 262,00 colour TFT
display is meant to make video calling easier, and in
the "wide" position it reveals the secondary
camera for video calls.
If you ignore the somewhat gimmicky rotating screen,
this is a fairly standard Samsung 3G handset with Bluetooth,
but it appears not to have expandable memory. Still,
the internal memory is 48Mb which isn't too bad but
limits the amount of media the SGH-Z130 can play back,
even though it supports audio formats like MP3 and various
video formats.
It's a lot heavier that the Z500 too, the Z130 comes
in at 120 grams and 112x46x20mm. In addition to UMTS
(3G) network support, it comes with tri-band GSM and
GPRS. Like other Samsungs there's a WAP 2.0 browser,
email client and synchronisation support too.
Rotate the display back into place and it looks a
little like a the Samsung X600 in design terms, just
a lot bigger. To be honest, we're not convinced by the
rotating display and really it's the only interesting
thing on this fairly ordinary 3G handset.
