Samsung U700 (SGH-U700 / Ultra Edition
12.1)
Discontinued 25th February 2007
Another member of Samsung's Ultra
Edition II range, the SGH-U700 is a glossy and quite
slim 3G slider with HSDPA support.
In truth, there's nothing very remarkable
about the SGH-U700 when compared with other handset
in Samsung's vast range of slider phones.. except that
the U700 will give you download speeds of up to 3.6Mbps
if you are in an area with suitable HSDPA coverage.
That's not saying that the U700 is a bad phone - not
at all - it's just that Samsung have so many sliders
to choose from.
The
Samsung U700 has a 2.2" 240x320 pixel display,
a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus plus a secondary
video calling camera, tri-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS
and HSDPA data, plus Bluetooth and microSD expandable
memory.
The media player on the SGH-U700 can
deal with a comprehensive range of files, including
MP3, MPEG4, AAC, WMA, WMDRM, H.263 and Real formats,
plus the U700 has a web browser, email client, picture
editor and other features.
In terms of design, the U700 follows
a very conventional Samsung layout with in a somewhat
glossy case. The design detailing doesn't really lift
it that much, but then really the SGH-U700's strengths
lie elsewhere.
Samsung say the the U700 should be available
sometime during Q1 2007, although exact pricing and
availability are not yet known.
