now The middle sibling in the bunch of three new Galaxy Tab 3 tablet devices, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch is a little bigger than existing 7-inch device but is a lot more powerful under the hood. In practical terms, an 8" device isn't much bigger than a 7" one, but the 8-incher has a higher resolution 800 x 1280 pixel display, a faster 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, an increased 1.5GB RAM, an higher-resolution 5 megapixel camera on the back plus a 1.3 megapixel one on the front. Internal storage is 16GB or 32GB plus a microSD slot, and the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch comes in WiFi-only, HSPA+ or LTE versions although quite which features will be available where is not known. Inside is a decently large 4450 mAh battery, and the Tab 3 8-inch measures 210 x 124 x 7.4mm and weighs 314 grams.
All the usual Galaxy Tab features are here, and the Tab 3 8-inch should make a reasonable multimedia platform or can even be used as an oversized sat nav with it's built-in GPS and GLONASS receivers. In terms of specifications, the Tab 3 8-inch goes directly head-to-head with the Apple iPad Mini which retail for about €330 for the basic model, so in any event the Samsung shouldn't cost more than that. Samsung say that this version of the Tab 3 should be available worldwide from June onwards.
