Samsung Galaxy M Pro Available now
10th September 2011

A midrange Android messaging phone, the Samsung Galaxy M Pro targets business customers as well as consumers.

This is an Android 2.3 device with a small 2.66" 480 x 320 pixel touchscreen display, a BlackBerry-style QWERTY keyboard, a 5 megapixel camera on the back plus a VGA camera on the front for video calling, a 1GHz processor, FM radio, 2.5GB of internal flash memory plus a microSD slot.

All the standard Android features are here too, including GPS, WiFi, 3.5G support and Bluetooth. The Galaxy M Pro also has a digital compass and proximity sensor, although the small screen means that it isn't really suited for in-car navigation. There are thousands of additional applications available for Android, plus the Galaxy M Pro has Samsung's own social networking enhancements built in.

It looks very much like a BlackBerry, and we must assume that this is the Galaxy M Pro's target market. It can support a variety of corporate connectivity solutions such as Exchange ActiveSync and Cisco WebEx. The small screen will probably not appeal to die-hard Android users though.

The Samsung Galaxy M Pro measures 114 x 66 x 10mm. The 1250 mAh battery is quoted as giving up to 6 hours talktime and 11 days standby time. No guidance was given on pricing or availability, but we would expect to see the Galaxy M Pro in the shops by the end of the year.
