Samsung C5212 DUOS
Discontinued 2nd March 2009
Samsung's latest dual-SIM phone is the
Samsung C5212 DUOS, a smart but quite basic phone
costing around €150 or 7000 Roubles SIM-free.
These DUOS phones have been around for
a little while now, and they all offer a very simple
way of using two SIM cards in one handset. Whether you
want to mix and match calling plans, or perhaps carry
a business and work SIM with you, then a dedicated dual-SIM
handset is the most efficient way of doing it.
The
Samsung C5212 sits pretty much near the bottom of the
range of dual-SIM devices. It has a basic 176 x 220
pixel display, a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth.
Internal memory is expandable to 8GB using microSD cards,
and the C5212 also has an MP3 player and FM radio.
There's a relatively large battery -
the C5212 packs a 1000 mAh cell, but then the twin GSM
radios in the phone will require more power than a standard
mobile.
It's not exactly a cheap phone - there
are plenty of other better specified single SIM devices
around for this sort of money, but if you want the convenience
and ease of use of the two-SIMs-in-one approach then
you will have to pay a little bit extra.
Samsung say that the C5212 should be
available already in Russia (although we have been unable
to locate a retailer). Other regions will probably follow,
usually through specialist resellers.
