The Samsung B7722 is a dual-SIM touchscreen phone that
supports 3.5G data. One of a long line of "DUOS" handsets,
the B7722 is the best specified yet, although it falls someway short
of being a fully-fledged smartphone.
There are two SIM slots inside the B7722, one for 3.5G/HSDPA
and the other for 2.5G. It might seem a little odd, but since a
typical dual-SIM arrangement only uses one SIM for data, then there's
no need for the additional power drain of two 3.5G radios.
The dual-SIM arrangement on DUOS phones is very easy to use,
allowing a caller to choose which SIM to use for any action, and
unlike some cheaper "double SIM" arrangements, both SIMs
are active at the same time.
Running Samsung's proprietary "SHP" operating system,
the B7722 isn't a smartphone although it does support Java apps.
However, most customers will probably find the B7722 quite adequate
- there's a 3.2" 240 x 400 pixel resistive touchscreen display,
WiFi support, a 5 megapixel camera, video calling, an FM radio,
microSD slot and a multimedia player and a web browser.
The 1200 mAh battery is quoted as giving over 12 hours talktime
on the GSM SIM and over 5 on the 3G SIM, with 17 days and 13 days
standby respectively. The whole package is fairly compact coming
in at 114 x 56 x 14mm and weighing 105 grams.
The B7722 has been on sale for a while in some territories, but
later this month it will be heading to Germany where it has a suggested
retail price of €349, and perhaps some other European countries
will follow.
