 Nokia Lumia 635 Out now
3rd April 2014

The Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 are part of Nokia's new Windows Phone 8.1 range and actually consist of three closely related devices, the 4G-capable Lumia 635 and the 3G Lumia 630 which comes in dual-SIM and single-SIM configurations.

These midrange devices feature a 4.5" 480 x 854 pixel screen, a 5 megapixel camera (but no front-facing one), a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage plus a microSD slot and all the usual smartphone features that you'd expect.

The Lumia 630 and 635 replace the Lumia 620, but the new models have a substantially bigger screen and a faster processor, and a much bigger 1830 mAh battery. Although these handsets lack the wow factor of their bigger and more exciting sibling, the Lumia 930, these two devices do offer excellent value for money.

Windows 8.1 comes with a number of new features which make it a little bit better than the first release of Windows 8, and as usual Nokia have included some decent applications such are HERE Maps and MixRadio.

Nokia say that the dual-SIM and single-SIM Lumia 630s will priced at $169 and $159 respectively before tax and subsidy, which should equate to a street price about about €150 and €140.. which is about the same as the 620 is currently. The 630 will ship to most markets outside the Americas from May onwards.

The LTE-capable Lumia 635 will be priced at $189 before tax and subsidy, so European consumers should see it on sale for around €165 SIM-free, which is good value for an LTE smartphone. The 635 will be available worldwide (including the US) from July onwards.

Although these two devices lack the high-end excitement of the Lumia 930, they offer a lot of features for the money and the relatively large screen should appeal to a wide base of consumers.
