Sharing a very similar specification to the upcoming Nokia 6700, the Nokia 6720 Classic is a Symbian S60 smartphone with GPS, a 5 megapixel camera and 3.5G support.

The price difference between the 6700 and 6720 is just €10 - and that small amount of money improves over the 6700 with a TV out port and smartphone capabilities, plus the 6720 has Carl Zeiss optics. Perhaps the 6720 looks a bit plasticky compared with the 6700, but that's a fair amount of extra goodies for just €10.

There's another unusual feature with the Nokia 6720 Classic though - Nokia have aimed this handset at those people who like to make voice calls. Fancy that! The 6720 curves slightly to fit the speaker's face better, and it also features automatic noise cancellation to help remove background noise. Nokia say that the 6720 is the first handset in their range to incorporate this sort of technology.. perhaps you could argue that they have only just remembered that sometimes people actually make phone calls on these devices.

Specifications overall are solid and would previously only have been found on N-Series handsets. There's a 2.2" QVGA screen, 3.5G with support for both high-speed downloads and uploads, a 3.5mm AV connector, microSD expandable memory, stereo Bluetooth and an FM radio. One major feature that the 6720 lacks is WiFi.

Talktime is a useful 5 hours on 3G, 8.5 hours on GSM with up to 20 days standby time. This long battery life is due in part to the 1050 mAh BP-6MT cell included in the phone. Overall dimensions are 110 x 45 x 14mm and the 6720 weighs 110 grams, which is pretty typical for this class of device.

The 6720 supports N-Gage gaming, it comes with a web browser, email client and instant messaging support. New applications will be available from the Ovi Store.

Nokia say that the 6720 Classic should be available during Q2 2009 for an estimated price of €245 before tax and subsidy. So far, we have spotted brown, titanium and grey colour schemes, although other colours may be available.
