NOTE: this handset has been cancelled. The Nokia 600 is a touchscreen smartphone with an unusual selling feature - its loudness. With a loudspeaker rated at 106 phon (like the X1-00), you can use the Nokia 600 as your own portable disco.. well, sort of.
Not only can you play back through the very loud loudspeaker, but the Nokia 600 also has an FM transmitter which allows you to play back through a nearby radio, which can be very handy in the car or if you have a nearby stereo. Of course, you can also use a standard 3.5mm set of headphones or stereo Bluetooth too. Music aside, the 600 is a fairly compact smartphone with a 3.2" 360 x 640 pixel display, a 5 megapixel camera plus LED flash on the back with 720p HD video capture. Also included are GPS and a digital compass, an FM radio, media player, microSD slot, 3.5G support, WiFi and built-in support for NFC contactless technology (including a pre-installed NFC game).
The Nokia 600 measures 111 x 53 x 13mm and weighs 100 grams. Talktime is quoted as up to 6.5 hours on 3G with up to 22 days standby time. Available colours are pink, lime, white and black and the standard sales package includes a 2GB microSD card, stereo wired headset and a USB cable. It isn't a very expensive device, Nokia say that the 600 should sell for about €180 before tax and carrier subsidy and it should start shipping during Q3 2011.
