Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Discontinued Most manufacturers have been pretty quiet during August, and Nokia is no exception. However, next month promises to see some exciting news including Nokia's first Maemo-based smartphone.
In the meantime, Nokia have given us the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition which (as you might guess) is a tweak of the popular 5800 XpressMusic but with added navigation options. In this case, Nokia have given a lifetime subscription to their "DRIVE" and "WALK" navigation licenses, and have given the phone access to the latest version of Ovi maps. The standard sales package comes with the accessories that you need to mount the 5800 Navigation Edition in your car, plus an 8GB memory card which we guess comes preloaded with maps. The large touchscreen display lends itself well to use as a personal navigation device, and of course the 5800 comes with a wealth of other features too including 3.5G support, WiFi and an excellent media player. Nokia say that the estimate price of the 5800 Navigation Edition should be around €285 before tax and subsidy. Considering just how versatile the 5800 is, then that seems a pretty good price.. but bear in mind that you can get a decent standalone satellite navigation system for less than €150. The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition should be available from the third quarter of 2009.
