Nokia 2680 Slide and Nokia 1680 Classic

 Nokia 2680 Slide Discontinued
2nd April 2008

Launched alongside the Nokia 7070 Prism and Nokia 5000, these two handsets form part of a range aimed at what Nokia call "emerging markets", and are targeted at consumers who are looking for a good value phone that still has plenty of useful features, while looking smart at the same time.

Nokia 2680 Slide

Quite a generic looking phone, the Nokia 2680 Slide [pictured right] is a low cost slider phone costing around €75 / £55 / $110 before and tax and carrier subsidy.

Despite being quite cheap, the 2680 Slide still comes with Bluetooth, a VGA resolution camera, FM radio, email client, web browser and MP3 ringtones. The display is a basic 128 x 160 pixel panel, and talktime is slightly over 3 hours.

Nokia 1680 Classic Although it's not the most exciting phone in Nokia's range, the 2680 Slide does at least have a camera, Bluetooth and can play music (even if it's only on the radio). Not bad for a phone this price. Nokia say that the 2680 Slide should be available during Q3 2008 in Slate Gray, Night Blue, Orange and Violet colours.

Nokia 1680 Classic

At just €50 (around £35 or $70), the Nokia 1680 Classic [pictured left] is one of the cheapest handsets in Nokia's range. It's an elegant looking monoblock phone with a VGA resolution camera, 128 x 160 pixel display, web browser and email client plus instant messaging support.

Weighing only 74 grams, the Nokia 1680 Classic boasts an impressive talktime of up to 7.6 hours with over 17 days maximum standby time.

Admittedly, it's a pretty basic phone.. but getting a camera phone for this sort of price is impressive, and the Nokia 1680 Classic looks like a much more expensive phone too.

Nokia say that the 1680 Classic should be available during Q2 2008 in Black, Slate Gray, Wine Red and Deep Plum colours.
