The MOJO Chat is a low cost messaging phone from a new youth-oriented British company called Mojo Maker.
Priced at just under £25 on Tesco Mobile in the UK, the MOJO Chat is certainly one of the cheapest devices of its type, and it does seem to offer quite a lot of features for the money.
Not surprisingly, the MOJO Chat is a GSM-only device with no 3G or WiFi support. Data speeds are limited to GPRS only as it doesn't even support EDGE, although for most basic features this will not be much of a problem.
The screen is a relatively small 2" TFT panel, although the resolution is not known. On the back is a basic 1.3 megapixel camera with video capture capabilities, and the Chat also supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
The MOJO Chat can play back MP3, AAC and AMR audio and MP4 video, but there's no built-in FM radio. Media files can be stored on a microSD card, and usefully for a phone this price there is a 2GB card included in the standard sales package.
Support for Facebook and Twitter is built in, plus an instant messaging client. The MOJO Chat also allows downloadable Java applications and comes with the usual utilities such as an alarm and calculator. There's a built-in web browser, but given the lack of high-speed data we suspect that this won't be the MOJO Chat's main use.
Although the MOJO Chat is certainly very inexpensive, bear in mind that you can get a prepay Android phone for less that £100 these days. However, Mojo Maker will also have an inexpensive Android device coming out with the forthcoming MOJO SNapps due out very soon.
The MOJO Chat is available now, exclusively from Tesco in the UK in white/pink or black colour schemes.
