LG KF300 ("LG Wine")

 LG KF300 Discontinued
28th August 2008

At first glance, the LG KF300 looks like a standard GSM clamshell phone. But look more closely and you can see that LG have designed the KF300 for ease of use, with an easy-to-use number pad and dedicated shortcut keys to important functions.

This isn't the first time that we have seen this sort of arrangement. The Sagem VS3 did something similar a few years ago which met with moderate success. And then there are handsets like the ITT Easy Use Phone which take the "ease of use" concept to the extreme. From our point of view, the LG KF300 looks like it could meet a real market need.

LG haven't said much about the KF300's user interface. Ease-of-use isn't just about buttons, so hopefully LG have done some work to make all the features of the KF300 easy to use.

The LG KF300 isn't a particularly high-spec handset. It has a 2" 240 x 320 pixel display, 2 megapixel camera with autofocus, microSD expandable memory, stereo Bluetooth and USB connectivity and an FM radio. The KF300 can play back a wide variety of media types and it also has an email client and web browser.

Weighing 98 grams and measuring 99 x 50 x 16mm, the LG KF300 is somewhat larger than most contemporary clamshell phones.. but it isn't exactly huge, and it should be easy enough to carry around. Talktime is just over 3 hours which is a bit disappointing for a phone of this size.

The LG KF300 (sometimes called the "LG Wine") is available now across Europe for a street price of around €180 or £130 SIM free.
