The curved LG G Flex is the second curved screen phone that we have seen recently along with the Samsung Galaxy Round. Both these handsets are heading exclusively to Korea (at the moment) but they both take very different approaches on how to curve the display.
Where the Samsung device is curved around the X-axis, the LG is curved around the Y-axis.. effectively a curve from the ear to the mouth, which seems like a much more logical way of doing it. The display itself uses a new technology called "Plastic OLED" (POLED) which uses a flexible plastic substrate rather than a glass one. Developed by sister company LG Display, this panel addresses a market that has not yet been proven to exist. The display is a large 6" panel, but where the Samsung has a full HD display the LG G Flex only has a 720 x 1280 pixel panel which is a lot less than we would expect. Inside is a fast quad-core 2.26GHz CPU with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of non-expandable memory. On the back is a 13 megapixel camera with a a 2.1 megapixel one on the front.
This is an Android 4.2.2 device with the usual LG enhancements, plus a feature that allows two applications to be displayed side-by-side and a "swing lockscreen" which changes the image on the lockscreen depending on how the phone is held. As with the Samsung Galaxy Round, the LG G Flex will be heading exclusively to the Korean market for the time being where it will be available on all three major carriers starting in November.
