HTC TITAN II

 HTC TITAN II Available now
9th January 2012

Initially heading for AT&T in the US, the HTC TITAN II is an upgrade to the TITAN announced just a few months back, but this time adding 4G LTE support and the highest resolution camera of any Windows Phone device that we have seen to date.

4G technologies are a big thing in the US at the moment with carriers and manufacturers pushing LTE and HSPA+ devices. The TITAN II follows this trend, so if you live in an LTE coverage area then you can potentially get very quick download speeds. If you don't have LTE, then the TITAN II also covers HSPA+ and UMTS as well. Handily, the TITAN II should work quite happily in Europe and worldwide due to the comprehensive network support.

The other key improvement over the original TITAN is the camera, as the TITAN II sports a 16 megapixel snapper on the back. We've said before that megapixel counts are not all that important, and we somehow doubt that the pictures are actually twice as good as the original TITAN.

Most of the other features are unchanged - the TITAN II packs a large 4.7" 480 x 800 pixel display, it has a 1.5GHz processor, 16GB of internal flash memory and the handset runs Windows Phone 7.5. The TITAN II has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus a 3.5mm audio socket and GPS.

One other small improvement is the battery, a 1730 mAh cell replacing the old 1600 mAh unit. The TITAN II measures 5.2 x 2.7 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.2 ounces (or about 132 x 69 x 10mm and 147 grams).

HTC say that the TITAN II should be available on AT&T "in the coming months". We don't see any particular reason why this handset should be limited to AT&T, so there's a good chance it might be rolled out into other LTE markets too.
