The name Emblaze
Mobile isn't a very
familiar one to people outside of the mobile phone industry,
but it's part of a fairly well established Anglo-Israeli
company with a background in various communications
technology markets called Emblaze
Ltd.
The Emblaze
Touch 7 isn't the
company's first mobile phone product, but it's one of
the most interesting, both from a technical perspective
and for the fact that it gives Emblaze a good change
at a market breakthrough.
To
look at, the Emblaze
Touch 7 is a smart looking
handset, but perhaps a little derivative in its styling.
Underneath, this is a tri-band GSM phone with a 176x220
pixel TFT display in 262,000 colours, a 1.3 megapixel
camera with flash, Bluetooth, an MP3/multimedia player
and expandable memory.
The internal memory on the Emblaze
Touch 7 is 64Mb, and this can be expanded by using what
Emblaze called "micro-flash" memory, which
we assume to mean microSD/TransFlash cards. Other features
on the Emblaze Touch 7 include a loudspeaker function,
WAP 2.0 browsers, wallpapers and Java support for games.
Perhaps the specification of the Emblaze
Touch 7 looks a little
unremarkable, but this handset is pitched at the value-for-money
end of the market, and it should cost around £60/€100
for pay-as-you-go/prepay customers. It's also a smart
looking device that looks more expensive than it actually
is, and is distinctive enough to make it stand out from
a lot of the competition.
Initially, the Emblaze
Touch 7 will be available through Currys and Currys.digital
stores in the UK, followed by other retailers later.
For UK customers, the Touch 7
should be available before Christmas, and the specifications
mark it out as an appealing and good value for money
device.
