BlackBerry Curve 8900
Discontinued 12th November 2008

We first
saw the BlackBerry Curve 8900 last month
when T-Mobile Germany accidentally published details
of this latest model in the "Curve" range.
As far as we know, the 8900 is exclusive to T-Mobile
in Germany.
This particular addition to the BlackBerry
range has GPS, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 2.4
inch 480 x 360 pixel display, the only significant thing
that it lacks is 3G.. although this will work on
T-Mobile's EDGE network or over a WLAN connection.
As well as a multimedia player, the
BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a 3.5mm audio socket and microSD
expandable memory, giving it a maximum of 16GB with
a compatible SDHC card. The Curve 8900 measures 109
x 60 x 13.5mm and it weighs 112 grams.
The model numbering might be significant
- earlier "Curve" handsets were 8300
series devices, and the business-orientated BlackBerry
8800 has a lower model number too. So perhaps all
8000 series BlackBerry devices will now be called "Curve".
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 should be
available from mid-November in Germany with prices ranging
from just under 5 euro with a 24 month "Relax
200" contract, up to 360 euro for a contract-free
device.
