BenQ-Siemens E61 Preview
Discontinued 9th March 2006
The
BenQ-Siemens E61 is either a incredibly clever and stylish
bit of industrial design, or alternatively it's a hideous
and garish phone that looks like something designed
in the 1970s. It's hard to tell, but in the Orange and
Black configuration (pictured) it's certainly eye-catching
one way or another.
The E61 is designed as a music phone,
capable of taking up to 1Gb of memory on miniSD cards,
and with the media controls neatly arranged on the very
top of the phone (which partly explains the odd wedge-shaped
design). These controls mean that you can easily fiddle
with the E61's multimedia player while the phone is
attached to a belt.
There's a silver version of the BenQ-Siemens
E61 which is certainly less headache inducing to look
at than the Orange and Black one. In silver, it looks
pretty much like any other Siemens handset apart from
the top-mounted media controls.
The exact technical details of the BenQ-Siemens
E61 are not known at the time of going to publication,
but we do know that there's a VGA resolution camera
on the back (designed to look like a record), a 1.8"
screen (probably 128x160 pixels) and Bluetooth. The
E61 should be available sometime during Q1 2006.
