T-Mobile G2 / HTC Sapphire Rumours

Rumoured to be the follow-up to the T-Mobile G1, the HTC Sapphire (or T-Mobile G2) doesn't appear to be very different, dropping the slide-out QWERTY keyboard and slimming down a little bit as a result.

The thinner and lighter G2 competes more directly against the iPhone in terms of features, but still appears to be a little way off when it comes to looks. Of course, the T-Mobile G2 / HTC Sapphire will come with the very latest version of the Android operating system.

We're pretty sure that the G2 / Sapphire we have here is close to the real thing, unlike the Chinese "G2" with the fake Android OS that cause a ripple last week.

The launch date is anticipated to be sometime during Q2 2009, but there are plenty of other manufacturers competing to have the second Android phone to market, so don't necessarily expect the HTC Sapphire to be the next Android device to hit the shops.
