Sony Ericsson K300 / K300i / K300c / K300a
Discontinued 1st March 2005
The Sony Ericsson K300 is a compact and low cost
camera phone with a 128x128 pixel display in 65,000
colours, VGA resolution camera and 12Mb of internal
memory. It's a reasonably lightweight handset at 85
grams, but it has an impressive 7 hours maximum talktime.
Aimed primarily at the consumer market, the K300
is at heart a pretty basic camera phone but there's
a certain style in this little Sony Ericsson device
that makes it stand apart from many other low cost camera
phones.
The full feature list is pretty good - with a WAP
2.0 browser, Java, 3D graphics acceleration, MMS messaging,
video recording, email client, media player, and PC
synchronisation.
This is a pretty crowded marketplace though, and
it's a little bit surprising that Sony Ericsson are
competing in this arena when their strengths are more
in high-end handsets. Still, the K300 leverages a lot
of existing technology into a competent and attractive
package.
This K300 will be available in three different tri-band
variants, the K300a will be a GSM 850/1800/1900 device
for America, the K300c is a Chinese GSM 900/1800/1900
variant and the K300i is a 900/1800/1900 GSM handset
for the rest of the world. Shipping should start in
Q1 of 2005.
