Samsung Z550 (SGH-Z550)
Available
now 13th March 2006
Another addition to the expanding range
of Z-series 3G phones from Samsung, the SGH-Z550 slider
comes with an SVGA 240x320 pixel TFT display in 262,000
colours, a 2 megapixel digital camera, Bluetooth, a
multimedia player, 138Mb of internal memory with microSD
expansion and stereo speakers. In addtion to UMTS 2100
3G, the Samsung Z550 supports EDGE.
It's a lightweight 3G phone at 95 grams,
but there's really nothing much to distinguish this
from other similar handsets in the Samsung range. However,
it's a bland looking phone that's almost indistinguishable
from many other recently announced Samsung handsets.
During 2005, Samsung came out with some beautiful handsets
such as the SGH-E530,
but many of the handsets announced so far in 2006 have
been very dull to look at, even though the technical
specifications are quite good.
There's not much else to say - you can
expect the Z550 to come with all the other standard
3G features such as a web browser, email client, video
calling etc etc, but basically this is a run-of-the-mill
3G phone that is competently done, but utterly unexciting.
