Samsung X480 (SGH-X480)
Discontinued 29th January 2005
One of two imminent releases in the
X-series range from Samsung (along with the X640),
the Samsung SGH-X480 appears to be a straighforward
replacement for the old Samsung
X450 handset, only with an internal antenna and
smoother looks overall.. or to look at it another way,
it's the X460
without the external display.
Although the specifications haven't
officially been announced, we believe that the SGH-X480
has a 128x160 pixel display in 65,000 colours and comes
with Java and polyphonic ringtones. The Samsung X480
should be a very lightweight phone, probably coming
in at around 75 grams.
This is a pretty basic handset, but
not as basic as some and the combination of small size,
lightweight and smooth looks should appeal to those
who want basic mobile phone functionality in a very
compact package.
The SGH-X480 will most likely be a dual
band GSM 900/1800 device with GPRS. Delivery date is
not known, but we expect the X480 to be available in
Europe and other territories in the first half of 2005.
