Nokia 6085
Expected
Q4 2006 14th September 2006
The Nokia 6085 is an inexpensive clamshell
phone with expandable memory and an MP3 player, pitched
to sell at €175 before tax and subsidy.
Frankly, it's a pretty disappointing
mix of components that appear to have been thrown together.
Nokia have revise a fairly standard overall look that
we've seen in other 6000 series clamhshells, and then
added a low end 128x160 pixel display and VGA resolution
camera. Admittedly, the Nokia 6085 comes with a microSD
slot, FM radio, Bluetooth and an MP3 player and usefully
it is a quad-band GSM phone.. but overall it's a pretty
unsatisfactory mix of components.
The
screen on the Nokia 6085 is a particular gripe - 128x160
pixels is just not good enough for any modern phone,
although at least it is a TFT display so it should be
sharp and clear. The VGA resolution camera seems hardly
worh including. And it this is a dedicated music phone,
then where are the multimedia keys?
It's quite a light phone - the Nokia
6085 weighs just 84 grams - and the quoted battery life
is pretty good too, with up to 5 hours talktime and
10 days standby time.
The Nokia 6085 has some good features,
but overall it looks like it has be thrown together
from a set of components from other handsets. There's
nothing particularly inspiring or distinctive about
the 6085, but if you're looking for a low-cost, lightweight
clamshell that can play music and you're not too fussed
about other features, then perhaps the 6085 will be
what you are looking for.
