The Nokia 1110i is a familar looking phone - it's
another version of the 1110
and 1112,
but this time with a green backlight on the 96x68 pixel
display as opposed to the 1110's amber backlights and
the white backlight on the 1112. Exciting stuff, yes?
The feature list is somewhat short, it's a dual-band
GSM phone available in 850/1900 or 900/1800 configurations.
There are three inbuilt games and some polyphonic ringtones,
but you can't add your own. And the 1110i comes with
exchangeable covers. There's no Bluetooth, camera, MP3
player, GPRS, email client or anything else.
The backlight colour is somewhat confusing, and indeed
Nokia's own press material quotes it as an amber
backlight and a green one, sometimes in the
same
document. In fact, the original press materials
for the older 1110 stated that it had an amber backlight,
but the press photos showed a green one. Two paragraphs
on the backlight is quite enough, but it's pretty much
the most exciting feature of this phone.
Still, the 1110i weighs only 80 grams and has 3-5
hours talktime and 10-15 days standby time, it looks
quite good and at just €45 / £30 / $55 before
subsidy and taxes, it's an incredibly inexpensive device
too.
