We were hoping for some interesting
devices from Motorola at this year's Mobile World Congress.
Unfortunately, the Motorola Z6w might be as interesting
as it gets.
Based
on last year's ROKR
Z6 model, the Z6w adds WiFi support and a docking
cradle, and that's it. OK, in actual fact the ROKR
Z6 is a pretty good music phone, with support for a
wide variety of multimedia formats (including Windows
Media Player), and it comes with a very nice interface.
The drawbacks with the Z6 remain in
the Z6w. There's no 3G support, the camera is only a
basic 2 megapixel unit and above all, consumers are
mightily fed up of this type of design.
If this is the best that Motorola can
come up with for the biggest event of the year, then
they are in serious trouble. It's certainly not a bad
phone, but manufacturers usually like to come up with
something that will wow the press and consumers alike.
Unfortunately, the Motorola Z6w fails to excite.
Should you want a Z6w, then Motorola
say that it will be available during Q2 2008.
