Motorola SLVR L9
Discontinued 27th February 2007
The last time that we saw a version
of the SLVR was four months ago - the SLVR
L7e was so uninspiring that we started to quote
Nirvana songs. Well, Motorola have trotted out with
yet another upgrade to the SLVR lineup, this time with
the SLVR L9.
Just as the L7e was a warmed over version
of the original L7, the L9 is simply the L7e reheated
yet again.. and as anyone who knows about food will
tell you, reheating the same food over and over again
will eventually lead to something that will kill you.
Oh yes.. Motorola have spiced it up
a bit with a new 2 megapixel camera, FM radio and a
bit of KRZR-style gloss, but there's still the old 176x220
pixel display and the overall design that frankly has
been around for far too long. Also, the SLVR L6 only
has a slow USB 1.1 connection, so transferring music
tracks directly to the phone will be a slow process.
It's not exactly the worst phone in
the world, after all it does still have expandable memory,
stereo Bluetooth and a fairly good media player, but
there's no disguising that this particular dish has
been served up too often.. and frankly it tastes kind
of stale.
Motorola say that the SLVR L9 should
be available from Q2 2007.
