Another
addition to the RAZR and SLVR lineup is the PEBL V6,
a smoothly stylish looking device.. but is it as advanced
as it appears?
The short answer to that question is "no".
Although the PEBL looks absolutely fabulous, it's basically
almost identical in every way the the V620 and most
of the newer V500 range.
The PEBL has a 176x220 pixel main display in 262,000
colours, 96x32 pixel external display, a VGA resolution
camera, 5Mb of internal memory, Bluetooth, EDGE and
GPRS data and voice dialling. Like the other phones
in the latest batch of Motorolas, this features the
"Dynamic Idle" system to give "zero click"
access to news and information sources.
Also
there's a WAP browser and email client, and the PEBL
also has an instant messaging client and MMS support,
plus of course Java and polyphonic ringtones.
Size and weight are reported to be almost identical
to a V500/V600 series handset at 87x49x20mm and 110
grams. The PEBL will be available in two tri-band GSM
configurations (900/1800/1900 and 850/1800/1900) depending
on region.
In much the same way that the RAZR is clever packaging
of pretty standard features, the PEBL is just a V500/V600
with a makeover, but that's a pretty good place to start
and the end result is that the PEBL is a gorgeous phone
and probably the best looking handset in the Motorola
lineup.
Motorola say that the PEBL will be available some
time in the second half of 2005.
