Motorola E1120 Preview
Cancelled 14th February 2005
The Motorola E1120 is a 3G phone with
a 3 megapixel digital camera, slated for launch in the
fourth quarter of 2005. Except, with Motorola's recent
history of not being able to get products to market,
we do wonder when.. or indeed if.. it will actually
see the light of day.
From the product images supplied, it's
clear that Motorola haven't even got a prototype available.
Clearly computer-generated and lacking detail, it seems
at the moment that the E1120 is still on the drawing
board, so Motorola's competitors can probably breathe
more easily.
Details are sketchy, but Motorola say
that the E1120 comes with Windows Media Player, so presumably
this is a Windows smartphone. Other information is a
little scarce - the E1120 takes TransFlash memory up
to a maximum of 512Mb, it has MP3 playback through dual
speakers with "3D stereo audio", a 3D graphics
accelerator for gaming, video capture and all the usual
stuff.
The camera has 8X digital zoom and autofocus,
plus a 30 Lux lamp for illuminating stills photos or
videos.
Size and weight are not specified, nor
is screen size, battery life or a whole host of other
features. As we said, clearly the E1120 is some way
off and we suspect that Motorola's announcement during
the 3GSM show is purely a spoiler designed to attract
attention. Given Motorola's history of slippage with
release dates, it could be well into 2006 before we
actually see this handset - assuming we ever do.
