Handsets

May was the quietest month that we can remember for years, with only a tiny number of handset announcements that were notable in our view. Perhaps the most interesting announcement is the Dell Streak, an Android device which is really a compact tablet instead of a mobile phone. At the lower end of the Android market is the HTC Wildfire which is designed to be a much more affordable way to get into Android. Finally, the Versace Unique is an interesting and no doubt incredibly expensive touchscreen phone due to hit select outlets in June.

Industry News

This month, Yahoo! and Nokia announced an alliance which will see technology shared between the two firms, and T-Mobile and Orange in the UK unveil that their joint company will have the rather bizarre name of Everything Everywhere.
