Virgin
Mobile Lobster 575
Available
now 6th July 2006
The Lobster
575 is Virgin
Mobile's second "Lobster"
branded handset, with a third one due out in the next
couple of week. Like the previous Lobster
485 model, the Lobster
575 is manufactured for
Virgin by Bellwave of Korea. In this case, the Lobster
575 is based on the Belwave
Neo 200 handset.
It's somewhat larger than the previous
485 model (which was one of the most compact phones
on the UK market), but the Lobster
575 is still very lightweight
at 77 grams and with an 83x42mm footprint. It's also
an attractively designed handset that's sufficiently
different from others to be interesting (the older Lobster
485 was even more impressive though).
Primarily designed to be a good value
for money handset, the Lobster
575's feature set is a
bit of a mixed bunch. There's a useful 1.3 megapixel
camera, an MP3 player and web browser, but on the other
hand the screen is only 128x160 pixels, the memory isn't
expandable and there's no email client and most importantly,
no Bluetooth.
This
is one of the cheaper phones in the Virgin
Mobile range though,
so the Lobster 575 does offer pretty good value for
money at around £80 including some bundled airtime,
and the Lobster 575
can be bought in either black or a shocking pink colour.
Presently, the Lobster
575 is only available
from Virgin Mobile in
the UK and not other territories
at present.
It's not the most advanced handset in
the Bellwave range - they have a pretty wide variety
of clamshells and sliders including the Bellwave Anasta
with a 3 megapixel camera. We're not sure what Virgin
Mobile are planning for
their next Lobster phone,
but there's plenty of interesting handsets in the Bellwave
range to choose from.
