3rd March 2013 February is the biggest month in the mobile phone calendar with several new devices being presented at e Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
NokiaThe Nokia Lumia 720 is a midrange Windows phone that looks like a good combination of features and price. A couple of steps down the range is the Nokia Lumia 520 which is Nokia's cheapest Windows phone to date. There's a big step down to the next set of models in Nokia's range, and the dual-SIM and WiFi-capable Nokia Asha 310 is one of them. A much more traditional device is the Nokia 301 which caters for people who don't want a touchscreen smartphone. The Nokia 105 is Nokia's cheapest ever phone, which marks the end of monochrome displays in Nokia's line-up. SamsungWith two of the daftest product names we can think of, the Samsung Galaxy Young and Samsung Galaxy Fame target the value end of the market. The Samsung Galaxy Express is a mid-range LTE-capable phone. The Galaxy Note range has expanded with the pen-based Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
LGLG have been busy this month. The high-end LG Optimus G Pro is an incredibly powerful full HD "phablet" device. The LG Optimus L Series II consists of three new handsets that are designed to look more expensive than they actually are. Another range of devices, the LG Optimus F series are much more powerful (and expensive) additions to LG's Android range. ASUSThe ASUS PadFone Infinity is the third-generation smartphone-in-a-tablet solution from ASUS, offering a novel approach to keeping everything synchronised. The confusingly named ASUS Fonepad is a mid-sized tablet with full phone calling capabilities.
Other phonesThe HTC One is a high-end and exceptionally desirable Android smartphone. The Huawei Ascend P2 is billed as the world's fasted LTE handset, which is great if you have LTE. Other tabletsThe Lava ETAB XTRON is an impressively cheap 7" Android tablet, if you can believe your eyes. HP are bouncing back into the consumer tablet market with the Android-based HP Slate 7. Finally, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a powerful full sized tablet with the ultimate slabby design. |
