BenQ-Siemens C81
Available
now 8th March 2006
The BenQ-Siemens C81 is a slightly unassuming looking
phone that manages to fit quite a lot of useful features
into a 90 gram package. The "C81" designation
indicates to us that this handset will be pitched at
the lower-midrange market.
You can tell instantly that this is a Siemens designed
handset, with many styling cues taken from other Siemens
devices. Whether you regard this house style as being
"understated" or "dull" is a matter
of opinion.
The main features of the BenQ-Siemens C81 are a 132x176
pixel display, 1.3 megapixel digital camera, RS-MMC
expandable memory, GPRS and EDGE data, a WAP 2.0 browser
and email client, multimedia player and PIM functionality.
The C81 has up to 5 hours talktime and 12 days standby.
This handset is strictly an evolutionary one, rather
than a revolutionary one - it's basically the same specification
as the Siemens CX75 only lighter, but
this is no bad thing. It's certainly a pretty good feature
set considering the light weight of the handset.
The BenQ-Siemens C81 is expected to be available
during Q2 2006 in "piano black".
